Hello Everyone, For those who don't know me my name is Glenn and I have been building 03/04 Cobra diecast for the guys in the Terminator section for almost 2 years now. Link for those who may be interested to see some of my Cobra builds: https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/official-terminator-diecast-thread.1139672/ Recently an SVTP member contacted me and asked me if I would build a Lightning for him. I had only done Cobra's up to that point and decided to look into it and see what I could do. Well, after a few months of research and looking into the diecasts available and decals/emblems needed I decided to give it a try. I ended up starting with a Maisto Lightning diecast (Note: Maisto is my preferred brand as they come apart without breaking parts easily). I completely disassembled it and began the build process. I stripped it down to bare metal and then gave it a base coat of primer. Then I applied a primer sealer and wet sanded it with 2000 grit. Then I applied a base coat of automotive paint code SN (Sonic Blue). I then placed the Lightning fender emblems, SVT and Ford tailgate emblems on the truck. I then clear coated the truck with house of Kolor clear coat. I finally cut and buffed the truck using 2000 and 3000 grit and polished it with the 3M three step polishing system. Here are the results: Here is what I started with: Here it is in Primer/Sealer: Here it is in Base Coat SB: Here is the finished Product: Note if you're interested in having a Lightning built in a color that might not be available from Maisto (i.e. True Blue, Oxford White, Sonic Blue, Dark Shadow Grey, etc. or you would like a color it never came in i.e. Mystichrome or Competition Orange) please shoot me a PM to work out the details.
