First off, it is a Similar engine to the SVT other than not having some modified internals from the SVT 190hp engine right? I know their 170hp, but who makes parts for them. Which websites sell them and whats available? My girl has a 99 which is pretty nice, handles great, well im comparing that to my 99 gtp with 72k miles on it and a stock slush suspension. hehe, needs new shocks. Shes not wanting to try and race me :) but i think it would make her happy to beat my 98 grand am gt and many of the silly mid 15 second ricers at the track. Im guessing her automatic v6 would run 15.9-16.2? times? Hope thats the best guess as the manual contours run mid 15s stock. Thanks, if you guys have any pictures of these performance parts on your SVT contours, email em to me [email protected].. thanks..

BTW, im still trying to find the guy in the black SVT contour from Michigan on Ford Road that put a million car whooping on me in my 98 Grand am GT, hell what that thing run 13s? shit!

CTAmotorsports.com
SPmotorsports.com

Go to www.contour.org and there are alot of cougars over there and they could probably tell you what they have done. I know one guy just put in a SVT engine in is cougar. Anymore ?'s just ask

Manual Contour SE (V6's) do high 15's; high 14s to mid 15's are SVT territory.

To make that engine SVT spec you need all sorts of things.

Hotter Cams
Extrude Honed Upper Intake Manifold
PCM

just off the top of my head.

By the way, the cams are ~$1200 for the set of 4.

and about another pt of compression, bigger TB, 19lb injectors, etc etc.

There are more than enough mods out there for them, but don't expect to make it a screamer, that is pretty hard with these cars.

Also check out www.fastcougar.com

But to answer your question, the 2.5L (non-svt) and Cougar 2.5L are the same.

That extra compression comes from.....SVT spec pistons right?

Oh and hey, have you found yourself a 3.0 yet? If not, I *MAY* have a source for cheap.
