Thy did not come with a protective film over the letters. Instead they were seperated by protective paper sheets and stacked in an envelope. The adhesive is 3M and once it sticks extremely well. <u><strong>Be SURE that you place the letters correctly, and take your time.</strong></u> It's an easy install that can be ruined with hasty placement. As you may notice in the following pictures the "C" is off (placed too high). It was the only letter I didn't test fit, and only one I screwed up. Another thing you will noticed when get them is that they do not completely fill the embossing. There will be a small gap in every letter in the bumper at the top & bottom. It's not bad, and it doesn't really hurt the look.
