^this, I'd just go drive what you can and really decide for yourself. You can only learn so much from reading on the internet. If I had to thumb thru your list this is how I see it (because I've been in the same position as you) Chevy SS: Great on paper, could never get over the looks. Probably the closest spiritual successor to the E39 M5 since GM stole the E39 platform engineers away from BMW. Stick cars still bring a premium in pricing Gen 2 V: Probably the smartest choice for a relatively modern manual sedan that will be reliable, I'm sure finding a stick will be fun but they are out there. G8 GXP: the only option to get a manual, hard to find and when they do come up, people want the world for them. I like how the G8 looks vs the SS but if this is the platform you want, find an SS Gen 1 V: Interior is so dated and cramped (I'm 6ft 5), its a lot of performance for the money but if you've got the budget for a gen 2 V I wouldn't even bother with these E39 M5: People do daily drive these (hell its the only car I have at home right now while my daily 330i is up on the lift), not the most economical daily and if you are using it as a sedan often especially with adults the e39 is a smaller sedan. At the same time though, this car is the benchmark that all sports sedans are compared to, so that must say something. Audi RS4: I looked into these as they sound great on paper (as well as the S4) but I'd never touch an audi. Step one for maintenance: Remove entire front end E90 M3: I have driven one of these, the handling is going to be sharper than the E39 and the 4.0L V8 in this will rev out to 8300rpm, with an exhaust they sound incredible. For around town driving they make no torque down low (295tq at peak), this a car you rev out to keep in the power band. The 5.0L V8 in the M5 makes 80% of its torque (368tq at peak) around 2500rpm. The E90 M3's from what I read are generally more reliable for M cars but you do have to deal with the rod bearings (people replace them every 50k to be safe, aftermarket bearings with better tolerances exist, not sure how long people run these for) and throttle actuators (usually fixed after installing a reman actuator set) I was really looking into early E90 M3's but ended up buying my Mustang as a daily instead. The Mustang was great to daily when I had a shorter commute but when I moved and my commute doubled, the 16 gal gas tank was too small to realistically do it. If you have any questions on the BMW's feel free to reach out.
