Putting together a cruise up through Dahlonega and Helen

I was up there this past weekend with the wife and found a pretty nice path between Dahlonega and Helen and had a great time. I've never taken the cobra up there, but would definitely like to do so soon.

Anyone want to get together?

How far of a drive from Marietta

A little over an hour to Dahlonega, then a 30 minute ride to Helen through the mountains. Here is the route I take to get up there.

You're just about as far as I am, and I live in downtown Atlanta.

If you want to make it a lunch destination, there is Jim's Smokin Q in Blairsville. You just continue into Blairsville a view miles on 129/19/11 and it's on the right. The Richard B Russell Scenic Hwy back to Helen is epic. The roads around Lake Burton northeast of Helen are great too.

I'd love to do a Saturday morning if I can free up my schedule with kids sports etc.

Actually how about either July 20 or 27?

It might be fun to start up the 985 corridor, do some driving and end up in Blairsville for BBQ around noon, then head down towards Dahlonega to finish the day. Or reverse it. The loop around Lake Burton is awesome.
