We got around to test fitting the first set of Redline Hood Struts that were sent to us and as usual the fit and finish of their product is excellent.

The installation took less than 20 minutes.

Here's the installation guide for anyone interested.

1. Remove the passenger side upper most hinge bolt using a 13mm socket.

2. Repeat on the driver side.

3. Install the Redline bracket by placing it over the upper hinge bolt. Rotate until the bracket is vertical and the washer hose attachment can be popped through the hole.

4. Remove the battery cover by taking out the 3 pushpins and pulling it towards the front of the car.

5. Once the battery tray is off of the car you'll use the plastic position guide to show where a 3/4" hole needs to be drilled.

6. After the hole is marked use the supplied bit to drill the 3/4" hole.

7. Since we like to have easy access to the battery without having to remove the hood strut we chose the optional cut into the battery tray cover.

8. Install the fender bracket assembly on both sides.

So you have to remove a hood strut to get at the battery?

No. You can do the extra step and make a cut that would prevent you from having to remove the strut to take the battery cover off.

Not the way they installed it. Look at the picture in step 7, They made a cut from the hole they made for the strut to the edge of the cover

Thanks!

The Redline kit is one of my favorite mods. I actually installed a set on our GT in the dealership parking lot before taking delivery.
