I had an EGT gauge that I recently removed. I unhooked the probe wire and pulled it back through the grommet into the engine bay. However, I cannot take the probe out of the exhaust without leaving a leak (and I don't think I can reach without removing the pipe anyways). What I was wondering was if I cut the wire all the way back to the probe will that be safe? Does any heat travel through it? Will it affect anything to just cut all the wire off and leave only the probe portion sticking out of the exhaust pipe?
