You mentioned it gets up to 122 in the summer but what about at night, what is the temp the rest of the year? It sounds like you already bought the kit so we have try and help you make the most of what you have. Do you have access to race fuel, 100+ octane? If not you can purchase some octane booster which will help, many of the boosted cars on pump gas run this. I know Lucas makes one, its a few bucks a bottle and works pretty good. Should get you in the 93-94 octane range if you add a bottle every time you fill up. Is the base heat exchanger Roush offers a triple pass heat exchanger? If it is it should do fairly well, if not get the VMP triple pass. Lots of people say to get the fanned heat exchangers but unless you are sitting in traffic or idling a lot I really dont see a benefit. If you live in a open area the non fanned exhanger will be fine. As mentioned above, it will be a good upgrade and purchase the VMP triple pass heat exchanger if the Roush supplied one is not a triple pass. I would opt for the JMS Fuel Max over the VMP fuel booster. Although I have never heard of a VMP overheating the pump I would feel safer with the JMS, especially since you are in a hot area. I believe the VMP booster runs continously at 18 volts, while the JMS is activated by throttle position (only comes on during WOT). The more voltage your fuel pumps see the more heat they will produce, heat will kill your pumps eventually. Its all personal preference though and I have not heard of any failures with the VMP but in your environment I would look at every advantage. Are you looking for a specific hp number. If not I would have the car tuned on a 85mm pulley and have a tune for the 82mm pulley. On really hot days slap the 85mm pulley on and have fun. Another option you can have is to have two tunes for the 82mm pulley. Have one fairly aggressive and have the second one with a few degrees of timing pulled out for those hot days. You will get 100 different options here on what to do, I would contact the tuner you plan on using and see what they recommend. Another thing to consider is adding a 170 thermostat and upgrading to a GT500 fan, both will help keep engine heat down. Less heat means less chance of detonation.
