I ran into a cool dude tonight while at the local meets.. real clean MR2. He popped the trunk to show the motor and it has a big fattie sitting on the manifolds, so I asked him about his mods. He said he was running a fully built motor with a Precision SC61 (good turbo) along with the AEM stand alone system. The car put down 402whp @ 18psi. Damn. So I called him out. First run, we had a few cars ahead of us so we had to shut it down early. I'm on 315 Nitto's that are inflated to 35psi (cause I forgot to lower the pressure, oops). 30mph roll, I wait till I hear him spool and then floor it. I do a little hop, skip and a jump and we're both off. We're pretty even. I make the shift to second, spin a little bit, he pulls maybe a bumper, I gain traction and pull ahead a bumper. Shift to 3rd, same outcome. We shut it down at the top of my 3rd, which was apparently his 4th. Damn I was for sure that he was going to pull me. 402whp and about 1000+lbs lighter than me.. and I had my girlfriend in the car (she's only 120lbs but hey, it's weight). We get to a gas station, talk a little bit, and I wanted to go on the freeway. I told him we can go from whatever MPH he wants and end it at the top of 4th.. which is around 135ish. He agreed. 60mph roll, I do a three honk and we're off. I instantly jump about half a car ahead and keep the distance through 2nd and 3rd. As soon as I hit 4th I was pulling hard. I shut it down because he was a good ways behind. That's exactly where I wanted to be.. I knew 4th gear was a monster. But mad props to his car and it was a good run.
