As I am shifting through the gears on my new Cobra, I started thinking to myself. Hmmm... what safety measures are in place to keep me from trying to find 5th and shifting into reverse and destroying the car's tranny. I'm sure Ford had to think of this... but I would feel better if someone could fill me in on this? Is there an anti-oops lockout in place to protect the vehicle from damage? Thanks!

There is a reverse lockout. Once you go 10mph (somewhere around there) a solanoid prevents you from throwing the car in reverse.

Reverse has a safety feature, I'd be more concerned about the dreaded missed 4th into 2nd shift. Happened to me once (luckily only at 60mph) and scared the shit outta me.
