At an SVTOA monthly meeting last week, had the general manager from the sponsoring dealership speak to the group about GT:

-They have a white one on order and expect it to arrive late April. This one is solely a dealer ordered car with no prospective buyer at this time.

-Asking price......get this.....$250,000!!! Yep.....According to GM, sticker is actually $145,000 and dealer markup is $105,000.....

-Said there are going to be 1,000 produced on this run and during the 3 year production period, will be a total of 4,000.

Other non-GT tidbits......2005 Mustang and GT will be out October 1, 2004. Verts out on 3/1/2005. Cobras????? NOTHING final at this point, despite rumors to the contrary, including 5.4 liter, Whipple, etc. Daid he is going out to Las Vegas next week to big Ford GM meeting and will get the lates tscoop and pass it on.....

yet another case of someone with alota "power" and "prestige" who doesn't have a clue about what he 's talking about. MSRP is base priced at 139,995 optioned out with every option is 157,095 including destination of 1250 and gas guzzler tax of 2600.
as far as production, i'll cut him some slack cause 800 units is pretty close to 1000, but he still sounds like an amateur.
job 1 for the 05 mustang is sept 7th, so october 1st might happen with a little luck, with the vert avail 6 months later. good luck finding any info on the 06 cobra-pure speculation at this point...hopefully it will have a whipple s/c-that would put the vette to shame..again!!

He said he was going to do a dealer markup of $105,000 to the sticker.......Base of $140,000 plus $3,850 for destination and guzzler equals $143,850 which is pretty close to $145,000.

Don't know if he's informed or not, but his info doesn't seem too far from yours Eric. He said he would call an SVTOA meeting when it came in so the Terminators could take a look.....At $250,000, that baby will probably be in the show room for awhile!!!!

There will be some morron who will end up paying that for it. Hell, My dad bought like one of the first 20 Thunderbirds when they came out and layed down around $58,000 for it after haggling, and now you can find them for close to $40,000, or less.

I don't think you can compare the T-bird fiasco to the GT. The T-bird was all about retro and history. The GT has some of that too, but what makes it worth 250k is that it kicks the crap out of cars selling for 300K and up! The same could never have been said about the T-bird, 58k is an ass raping though, so I'd be pissed too!!

Of note:

Superformance will be releasing their GT40 very soon for around$90-$100K, and will be more AUTHENTIC, just need motor!

ERA sells a very AUTHENTIC disassembled version for around $65k

goto www.gt40s.com for more info.

With all due respect, a GT-40 cannot be authentic unless it is made by fomoco. Maybe the holman moody GT-40 (which really is authentic), but those are $600K plus.
