I wonder why they never made and svt escort... I know they made a gt, but if the focus is gonna get an svt badge I don't see why the escort never got one hehe j/j
:bash: Well, seeing as Ford of Europe has always received the good cars (Cosworth Escort for one..)
it is about time we in the states got a small car worthy of some excitement (Focus SVT).
I had the joy of being at Waterford Hills roadracing circuit here in Michigan a few yrs ago, and personally watched a Euro-spec Escort absolutely whomp all the Porches and Corvettes in the unlimited class. THAT was cool !! Not that the Focus SVT is going to be that quick, but it is the first reasonably good effort ever to have been put out by Ford for a small car, and NO, the Contour is not a small car...;-)
Cool site man...I'll be around...

I would have rather seen a new ZX2 built with the new Focus SVT engine/tranny and some SVT badges thrown on it.
I think the SVT Focus is gonna be a great little car, but I think the ZX2 looks much nicer.
As for cosworth, emissions kills everything over here in the States. Just look at nissan, the have the skyline, plus they have an excellent line of strong powerfull engines over in japan.
That is actually an Austrailian Ford Lazer. Same car as the 91-96 Escort, only this is one bad mother! They produced this car with a 1.8l intercooled turbo and all wheel drive. I don't think that this car was on the same level as the Cosworth Escort WRC though. Cossies have been known to put out 400hp :burnout:
Here in America we think we get some pretty cool cars, which we do. Europe gets better ones though! I drove a ZX5 over in England in May, and it definitely had better handling and performance than the Focus we get here....and it only had a 1.8l Zetec in it!
I'm just waiting for someone to come up with a hybrid how-to so I can drop the SOHC 2.0l out of my Escort and put in a 2.0 DOHC. I know anything is possibly, given a big checkbook!
