SVTP Book Review: Building 4.6/5.4L Ford Horsepower on the Dyno Some time ago SVTP was fortunate enough to be asked by the author of Building 4.6/5.4L Ford Horsepower on the Dyno, Richard Holdener, to do a review of his latest contribution to the high performance Ford community. Since that review was never posted in a conspicuous manner such as this I am now reposting a slightly updated version of it for the SVTP members who may have missed it the first time. Originally written: 10/27/2006 Richard Holdener is the author of many titles including 5.0L Ford Dyno Tests, Official Factory Guide to Building Ford Short-Track Power, High-Performance Ford Focus Builders Handbook, and is also a contributor to some SVTP favorites, including 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords, and Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords. This time he has set his out to create the definitive modular powered Ford performance book, and that he does. It has been twelve model years since the elimination of the legendary 5.0L V8 from the Mustang occurred, yet to some the 4.6- and 5.4-liter modular Ford engines are still somewhat shrouded in mystery. However, the performance aftermarket has come to the rescue with throttle bodies and inlet elbows, intake manifolds, camshafts, nitrous oxide, superchargers, turbochargers, headers, and exhaust systems among other components for this modern breed of engines. 6/9/2010 Update While the modular engine modification world has changed substantially in the years since this review I believe this book is still very relevant to the modular performance community. The information contained in this volume is highly detailed and a great resource for those interested in learning more about the power making potential of the modular engine family. Every modern Ford enthusiast should have a copy of Building 4.6/5.4L Ford Horsepower on the Dyno on their book shelf, especially considering it still costs less than $20.00. -SID297
