When I was 20, I had a 1990 Thunderbird super cute. Driving around one night I ran into a guy with a gorgeous slammed, read 1990 GT, deep dish BBS Wheels, long tube headers, full exhaust, killer stereo system with a box and a few other cool that’s that I’m forgetting to mention. Anyway the guy said he loved my supercoupe and wondered if I would trade him. I immediately said yes since the mustang what is my dream car. I forget how it all went down but in the end we traded cars and I drove it for about two years. I put a built 306 with heads, Z cam, ported GT 40 upper and lower, big mass air, injectors, gears and just about anything else I could possibly do to this car. One night I took it to a bar and when I came out it was gone. A couple of years later I met a guy at the mustang shop that said he knew one of the guys that stole the car. I got $24,000 in the insurance settlement so I did not care that I never saw it again but he said that that car was actually a 1993. When they parted it out it had a latch plate on the hatch that was gold and somebody had messed around with the Vin plate. there were two other things that I noticed about the car, when I rebuilt the motor it had cast pistons in it which only came in the 93 and one time a truck hit my front fender so I swapped it out with one that I had in the garage from the 1988 GT. Problem was it didn’t fit. The 93’s had a bigger wheel arch opening than the 88. I never clued into it.... maybe I didn’t want too. It’s like they say something is too good to be true it probably is. another thing I found out is that the guy that stole it gotten a police chase on the highway on the way to the shop where they cut it up. Apparently The thief was more than impressed with the power. 1:30am on an empty 6 Lane highway being chased by a crown Victoria. LMAO I would have loved to of seen that and heard it!
