Just looking for some quick opinions here...I'm getting ready for some new rubber, I heard you can squeeze nitto 275's on our stock rims but mine is lowered an inch and a half in the back so I'm concerned about rubbing. Also, I herd you don't necessarily get much more road contact with the bigger tire if it's ballooned out the side so I was thinking about the 255 NT05's. I'm pushing just 300hp at the wheels so what I need is more traction...thoughts?

275's too wide

I have mounted 275/40/17 on the cobra wheel 7.5" width wheel, tire ballons, most manufacture 8.5" min width wheel recommeded for tire size. I am doing 5 lug conversation, found 99 Cobra wheels, the 275 looks better on the 8" wheels but best is 9" width, you get full contact patch. As far as cleanace on lowered not sure, I'll be finding out soon

I would leave it at stock size since you are lowered. A 255vs a 245 is 10 mm, which is less than 1/2".

I've never cared for a 255 vs a 245. I've seen a 275/40 on lowered cars but can't say whether they rub or not.

A 275/40 Nitto Drag will fit pretty well, as they are smaller than a normal 275.

Cliff notes: Stay with a 245.

You will rub in the bumps and turns.

A sticky tire goes a long way, but the Nitto's are the stickiest out there. They will last longer than a BFG or the like. Like Richard mentioned, their 275 tire does seem to run a bit narrower then the others.

So you don't think 255/45 will look ok? I figured that would be my best choice without having to roll the fenders which I really don't want to do. I have considered sending the rims out to weldcraft but then theres spacers and my quad shock not to mention the exhauset. I want to powdercoat all 4 rims this winter and there is only so much cash ya know what I mean. I was considering the black chrome for the rims but but im starting to get cold feet.Oh, the front is lowered 1.5" and the rear is 1"

Id go 255/40. Hair wider, bout the same height. 275 nitto DR is about the same width as a 255. I was kinda let down when my 275 dr was almost the same as my 255/40 on the front. Lol. Tires.com has a calculator to see how close a 245/45, 255/40,& 255/45 are

I run 275s on the rear and do not rub at all. Mine is also lowered. Unfortunately they do balloon out a little bit (as seen in my sig) but I have not ran into traction issues. I do plan on getting them widened. The difference in a 255/40 and a 255/45 side wall is going to be half an inch.

Look at this I plugged in to compare the sizes.

Damn the 315's look sick now I'm having tire size envy. So I'm thinking 275's now because next year I can ship my rims to weldcraft for widening. Hopefully there won't be an issue taking them off that 7.5 rim, I'd be pissed if they ripped the tire bead.

the NT05 would be a good choice.

I ran 255s on mine with no rubbing issues at all.

I had 275/40 Nitto drags on my original rims. The ballooned a little but didn't look bad at all. My buddy put 275/40 Mickey Thompson drags on his 93 Cobra and they looked too big (wide).
Mickeys do hook better than Nittos though I know that first hand.

Yeah I tried a set of the 275 40 Mickey Thompson once. They are way to wide for the stock wheels. I also tried them in 315s on my widened wheels and couldn't get them to fit under my car. They hit really bad!!
