ranchos are the bars to have, but i don't think they are made anymore. jlp sells some, but they are for the gen 2's and have to be modified to fit the gen 1's.
i have an sct chip in mine. i only saw like an 8hp and 13ftlb increase in power on a c3p2 ecm. they are a little fat from the factory, but the chip allows for turning off the converter lockup in 2nd, etc. i'd probably try the twEECer route if i were you. at least you can play around with it and have to worry about a reburn for future mods.
Chips don't do much unless you get a custom dyno tune $$$.In the long run in much easier/cheaper to get a wideband and tweecer and tune your truck yourself.
I run Cal-Tracs and love them, no wheel hop for me. Like what was said dont mess with a chip. Get a laptop, wideban and a tweecer. That way you have lots of room to grow with out reburning the chip. Just a thought.
