2005. Looked a little, nothing seems to be leaking at first inspection. Turbo is about 3 yrs old... might just be toast.

check the hose going to the map sensor, check the boots on the innercooler pipes at the turbo, they can tear at the turbo, also check where the hoses clamp onto the innercooler. The innercooler can split also where the side tanks are crimped onto it. Remove the airfilter assy and start the vehicle and watch if the turbo vanes spin. Theres alot to go wrong and if you don't know what your doing your going to spend alot of money throwing parts at this truck and do nothing. I would find someone who knows what they're doing and pay the diag time and go from there if you can't find something simple on your own. Good luck

is the truck out of warranty? how many mile are on it? you really cant tell if the turbo is toast until you take it apart. like 03shadowgreygt said check all that stuff first. if the truck is out of warranty you can easily remove the turbo and take it apart. they get alot of rust inside the veins of the turbo and they can be cleaned (ford wants this over replacing them and if you do it yourself its a free repair if you got the time and tools). you would have to replace the turbo tho if the unison ring which the veins sit in is cracked. that unison ring is for that specific turbo and is non serviceable. does it also make a noise when you let off the pedal? does it lag a lot more than it ever did before?

This is a old post but just so you all know, you dont have to replace the turbo anymore because of the unison ring, ford has made it so that you can just buy tha ring
