Dropped my kmember to change out the oilpan on my 00 R and to do some detailing, before I dropped the K-member, I noticed that the oil pan was scuffing the steering rack on the passengers side, there was a height diff of around 1/8 - 3/16th of an inch in height between the to sides of the engine, it appears that the mounts are starting to stretch on the driver's side and compressing on the passenger's side which would be consistent with these mounts having alot of torque applied to them...I went ahead and removed them to do some comparisons between the two sides and with some after market urethane mounts from prothane and energy systems. the drivers side mount is between 1/4 and 5/16ths of an inch taller, when installed in the car with weight of the engine and k-member, there is about 1/8th difference, this is the amount needed to be installed on the pass side to get the oil pan off of the rack, the clearance between the rack and the pan is around 1/32 of an inch or so. The prothane mounts are approx 1/4" taller on the pass side and about the same on the drivers side, but when installed, the engine height is increased approx 1/4 to 5/16".....I did not even bother to install the energy systems mounts, they were 1/2" taller than the prothane mounts, so I knew those would be a problem It appears that these rubber mounts compress quite a bit when installed. Since I am going to drag race this car, I would really rather have the prothane mounts.... has anyone here used any aftermarket mounts on their 00 R's regards Bill A.
