Do you have aftermarket cams and springs? The more aggressive lobe ramps can cause a bit more noise in the valvetrain from the valves when seating. Also higher valve spring loads can cause a bit of "compression" to the lash adjusters at the lower oil pressures/thin viscocities when at idle. The oil has a tendency to bleed out faster. Our lash adjusters were not designed around running higher seat pressures. Before taking it apart, try putting in a slightly thicker oil, say 10-40. Drive it around get the oil hot then let idle and listen to it. If quieter you have the answer on the lash adjusters bleeding down more. If there are more aggressive cams in it you will still hear the valves seating. Sounds like a slight to light tick across the whole head. Valve material should not cause any sound change that I know of. If, the valves weren't ground right or not lapped in, they could make a bit noise if not 100% concentric at the seat though. Good luck and keep us updated...
