IS the stage 6 on the edge chip good or bad for the 7.3. and would i have to do any transmisson work to the truck if im going to do some motor up grades?

Same goes with any stock trans, some will hold for a long while with a lot of power, some others will not. It probably often depends on the fluid for one, and how often you firewall the skinny pedal. It'd probably be best to atleast have a shift kit if you plan on running around a lot on the highest power level on any programmer/module/chip. Not really sure a bigger trans pan will help ya, but they sure looks cool and hold more fluid.
Edge chip? I know they make modules, and incab programmers/monitors.
The highest selection on any "programmer" will give you the highest power out of it you can get as far as it's "canned" tune goes.
