I just bought a '99 Contour SVT and am curious as to what the best bang for your buck bolt on's are. Is there a website or catalog with SVT Contour parts listed? What have some of you done to get the some extra hp from your SVT?

Cheap effective mods:
-open K&N with heatshield and MAF adapter
-optimized throttle
-gutted precats or weapon-r headers
-optimized y-pipe
-Tru-bendz cat back

3L engine is the best power for the $. Then get intake, headers, and exhaust to help it breath better.

as long as you keep the mufflers, resinator and main cat.

Yeah, definitely keep the resinator. It is so freakin loud if you take it off. With just the headers, it has a nice sound, it's louder, but not obnoxious.

How do you optimize the throttle? I am about to pick up a 98 CSVT this week.

Thanks,
Ken

You actually optimize the throttle body. You have to remove the throttle body shaft from the throttle body. You'll need to remove the throttle body plate from the shaft. You'll then use a dremel to remove one half of the throttle body shaft. This will allow for more airflow. Then reinstall the throttle body plate using new countersunk screws, and throw out the old screws. This smooths out the airflow entering the intake. It's a fairly cheap mod, and helps out with throttle response.
