I was curious what our hoods and trunk lid's are made of. I bought me a cool car magnet to throw on once and a while when I attend football games down south here in NC, and it was perfect size fit for the middle section of our 03 cobra hoods. It's the block S like my avatar and I thought it would look pretty cool on my white 03, but when I laid it on my hood it did not magnetize to the hood. Only stuck to the side of the car panels. Also wouldn't stick to the trunk lid. Must be made of same material. Just curious.
What's our hood/trunk lid made of?

They are made of composite.

I have heard composite but not sure . I think it is something like fiberglass and plastic but could be wrong.
"Composit material" according to Ford. Whatever Composit Material actually is made up of I havent the foggiest...
It's been composite since 1994 I thought....well at least the hood. Trunklid started in 1999. Done to reduce weight of the car.
The hoods are made with a composite technique that ford cant share because it is a "Ancient Chinese secret"
