I'm about to order a new 5.0 GT, and I can't decide which gears to order it with. I probably won't go for FI any time soon, but I will probably get a cat back, intake and tune for it soon after getting it and that is all for a while.

For 7.5k rpm tune, and intake exhaust I think it should pull 115 mph or a little more in the quarter. I think maybe 3.55?

What do you guys think? Input from guys with 3.73's is appreciated.

Unless you plan on buying 4.10's or higher later, 3.73's all the way. I have a few friends that got the 3.31's and 3.55's and after riding in my car wish they had the 3.73's.

with a tune you can hold 4th to atleast 115mph. When i trapped 115mph with just a tune i kept it in 4th at the traps. When i trapped 117mph i shifted into 5th. I might have been able to hold it in 4th, but i didnt try.

I've heard of a couple of cars pulling 117-119 with tune, intake and exhaust, so I want to make sure I don't run up on the limiter in 4th.

I drove a good friend's new 2011 with 3.73's and it was really nice driving normally, but he wouldn't let me get on it at all.

3.73 is the way to go. Use a 28" tire at the track and you have plenty of room to grow.

From experience with my 3.55's I'd say go with them. They work perfectly for me. Im stock and managed a 12.56@113. With 3.73's I wouldve been going into 5th costing trap and et

I have 3.55s and trap 119 MPH at about 7100 rpm. you would definitely be shifting to 5th if you had 3.73s... However my brother is stock and has 3.73's and his car pulls alot harder than mine did stock. I almost wish I did 3.73s. I may end up getting 3.90s in a year or so.
