Gave up after 3 years and 12,000 miles of riding a 600 crotch rocket. I was always a speed demon, and a bike was the cheapest way to go fast! Learning to ride came easy. Picked it up in no time. One thing made me quit though: I was riding totally normal, around 45mph. I crested a normal hill, and the front wheel, it didn't get air, unweighted just enough, that I entered into a severe tank slapper! I held on as tight as I could, even thought about bailing off, and somehow rode out of it! No idea how I held on. I quit that day, and placed an ad for the bike. That day I realised that even doing nothing wrong, you can still go down. My brother wrecked his ZX7 after hitting a ground hog at 40mph! I also realized that I liked doing other things MORE in life, than riding, and the risk of death or injury is real on a bike. Had riding been the most important hobby to me, I'd continue to ride. I eventually bought fast cars, so bikes are an afterthought now. Also, between work, rain, cold, and 8 months of winter, I just wasn't getting out as much as I would have liked. This was a secondary reason for quitting though.
