yeah he was an instructor i had for a driving school. i knew he was quicker than i am so i let him past without thinking twice about it.

yeah, its a fully prepared car with slicks, but its still a blow to the ego when you get passed by a taurus!

If auto cross was my thing I'd be looking hard at the new Lotus Elise. Add a few basic mods in that one and you would have a real smoking Devil on your hands.

True!

I used to autox all the time, but the Cobra just is not like my previous vehicles on the 40MPH and under tracks here in SA. You getted killed by SI's, STI's, EVO's, Mini's, Miata's... the list goes on. Like already mentioned, it's a tank. With all my mods I get destroyed in Y-mod, and just need to wait for the road course. Can't wait for a few more parts to make it to Texas Motor Speedway  If you only have an upper, it's a good idea to go back to the stock size pulley, or just a 3.0 upper for autox. That's were my interchangable upper comes in handy. It was pain to try and drive a 3600LB tank with 500HP through the cones with any kind of finesse. I tried with AVS sports last time, and it was all squeal and no traction, I miss A03s or Hoosiers. Autox is a blast once you get a few trips under your belt. It's all about enjoying the car.

Good GRIEF those courses are tight and have a LOT of constant radius long corners. I like autocross but I don't think I would like those courses...they look good for burning up expensive rubber for just a little fun.

It seems that wherever you go there's always going to be someone complaining about the course right. :)

There are lots of great course designs on the 'net, if your planner is running out of ideas...the Brits are really big on GymKhana, which is a totally different animal than autocross in many instances, but just as fun. Plenty of designs for those.

unfortunately my club lost its cone-crushing venue. not sure what to expect in the solo2 realm this coming year.

i'll still be at blackhawk farms/gingerman/road america this year, though!

and possibly nashville and texas for svtoa national events

on the track:
http://nitro.vapornet.net/qtmedia/Media/saturdaynorthwoodssession2.mov (173meg) pay no attention to the pea gravel that comes out of my car the first few corners...

Wow, that's pretty cool. Although, I think I'd be tempted to really get on it down the straights and probably end up flying off the track.

I'd have to ride along with an experienced Cobra driver just to get an idea of what it takes to do it right.
