I guess I can kind of relate. I said I would own one before turning 30. I missed the first deadline of 30 due to other thing being more important. My mom was 61, and fully stabile enough to retire. She kept putting it off until she found out she was going to be a grandma. She planned to retire in 2015, but died two weeks after being diagnosed with cancer and a month after her first grandchild was born. In 2015, a buddy of mine found a really nice Foxbody for sale that I went to look at. It was in my price range. I looked at it and liked the car. A buddy of mine hopped on Craigslist to see if any other ones were for sale and came across a Cobra that had just been posted at 9:30 PM that same night. He told me about it and we couldn’t believe the price. Had to be a scam. I called the next day and the guy said he had to sell the car ASAP because he needed quick cash. He said the car was already sold and I was relieved. I told him thanks and let me know if the deal fell thru, I might still be interested. The thoughts of my goal of owning one before 30 crosses my mind, then thought of my mom waiting to retire and never making it. A couple hours later the seller called and said he was getting phone calls left and right and the guy who said he was buying it never showed. Since I was the 2nd person to call, he wanted to be fair about things as he was taking names down in the order that they called. I called my boss, told him I would be late and drove an hour and a half to look at the car. It wasn’t perfect by any means, but I fell in love with it when I pulled into his driveway and saw the back side of her. I took it for a drive, grinned ear to ear and told him I would think about it. I went home, talked to the wife and we talked about my mom waiting to retire and never making it. I called the guy, we made a deal, and I bought the car that I still own today. It’s the car in my sig. I pulled the engine a few years back and about a year and a half later, I had put it back together. The day I fired my Cobra off again after almost a year and a half was 4 years exact to the date that my mom died. I didn’t plan it that way, but that car brought great joy to me on the worst day to date in my human life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
