Heard this today and trying to confirm... Someone in NJ.. during a tuning session.

It may be the first but certainly won't be the last! So many 03-04's were blown up we lost count! :idea:

I heard they have the shitty lightning rods in them. Is this true?

no.

cracked I beam rods.. I believe they are the same as the L, they are not the H beam rods of the 03/04

Only tuner I know in Freehold is JDM.

I heard the same thing. It let go at 580rwhp, throwing 2 rods out the side of the block...I think it may have been on JDM's dyno, but JDM wasn't tuning it.

Woah, 580hp? That would be disappointing for sure. Can't wait to hear more details.

I don't know any details on the car...for all I know it's running the stock maf which is for sure pegged.

it means nothing till we have details. Maybe somebody could get JDM to post in here. Either which way, I am throwing in some Billet I beams before I go crazy w/ mods.

This is relevant how?

First, no '03-04's blew this quick after the launch.
Second, I know of no '03-04's that put a rod or rods thru the block.

Yes quite a few burned pistons when the envlope was pushed (upper lower extreme high boost cars), but even that was due primarily to bad tuning and or bad gas.

For all the people getting the GT500, I hope this was somehow operator error, but it seems unlikely to me that the tune cause the rods to let go.
