Back home with my parents between semesters...

Only to find the main computer loaded with spyware, I couldn't even bring up SVTP without 4 pop-ups :bash::bash:

I really don't feel like formatting this thing, what's the best program to get me going for the next month or so?

ive never had success with any program out there, and any fixes were merely a temporary victory in the war against spyware/adware. you gotta go all Hiroshima on your hard drive if you want it to end.

You don't have to reformat it. How good do you consider yourself with computers? What is happening, is your antivirus program is finding them, deleting them, but not everything. Its leaving something in the registry which then just recreates itself. Depending how confident you are in your own abilities, you can delete these things rather easily. If you want more info I can let you know what programs to use.

i'll also use a few of them..Spybot, Spyware Doctor, Adaware, and Registry Mechanic is pretty good at finding those pesky ones that keep coming back when you re-boot your computer

Thanks guys, just downloaded spybot. So far so good...

I'm familiar with formatting, i've done it NUMEROUS times on this workstation however now my parents have hundreds of family pictures, videos, games, documents and tons of software I don't feel like having to backup and reload.

I'll just make do while i'm here. Thanks again

Spybot sucks huge dick. It won't touch a rootkit. Like someone else said, it depends on how good you are. The only ones I've seen that come close to getting the non-easy stuff are Spyware Doctor and Mwav. If you're just getting a few popups you might just have an activex control that needs to be deleted. Also, most of the easy random shit you can just go to add/remove and uninstall. Formatting is what n00bs who don't really know computers do. I've never had to do that EVER and I deal with this multiple times a week. It's where geeksquad makes me rich because people would rather give me $100 to fix it the right way, then pay those retards more than 2x as much.

I had to get a new computer last year because the spyware screwed my computer up so bad.

i've got a suggestion for all of you..........................

Stop trying to download free porn! :poke:

Free porn is a widely believed myth. Anytime you click a link that says "free vids" it just leads you to another page with more links and the cycle continues until you've got about 100 windows open, spy ware and several viruses. its so damned frustrating :mj:
