It began in Feb. of 2006 when I bought my 1996 Cobra convertible from a buddy of mine for $5,500 with 111,000 miles on the clock. It was filthy but had a bunch of decent mods installed...
BBK Intake and catless H pipe, Flowmaster exhaust, 3.73 rear gears, big dumb tach, Cobra R wheels, and a styling bar with third brake light. The convertible top was in bad shape with 10 or so tears throughout covered with duct tape. That didn't bother me though since I got such a good deal on the car, I just put the top down wherever I went. The car hadn't been washed in quite some time but fortunately the dirt formed a protective barrier under which the paint was actually in decent shape. After a quick wash it looked oh so much better...
To me, the car was a bloody rocket ship so it was time to take it out and give it a good once over...

The check engine light bulb had been pulled at some point in it's life and when I got it hooked up to a computer there were quite a few codes that needed tending to. Most of them were fixed with a fresh set of FRPP plug wires, 764 plugs, and fuel filter.
The search for more power had begun, I first turned to the BBK intake which is known to be awful as it is chrome and heats up like a "mo fo" as evidenced by the nasty burn I got from touching it after running the car down the track a few times.
I decided to shorten the amount of pipe between the air filter and throttle body to get a bit crisper throttle response so I went with a WMS ceramic coated (to keep the heat out) intake pipe and mated it up with the biggest dam conical filter I could fit in there...
The difference in throttle response was fantastic and it felt a tiny bit quicker up top.
Next the alternator started flaking out so it was replaced by a black powdercoated PA Performance unit...
Next I wanted to get the motor spinning up a bit quicker and the clutch had a ton of miles on it so I went to a Spec aluminum flywheel and their stage 1 lightweight clutch along with some fresh trans fluid...

In the quest for more power I got a killer deal on a set of ceramic coated longtube headers with a matching catless h pipe only to realize that there is no way in hell I would be able to install them myself in my apartment's parking lotl and they've been in the closet ever since...
