To make a long story short, a 2 week job to pull a motor has been a month after month battle. In this time I've called this guy probably 30-50 times, had to contact forum admin\mods and called the police to get my car back.

His last job was to get the motor he spent MONTHS pulling to Fox Lake Racing and still has not done that. That was supposed to start moving in SEPTEMBER.

My insurance has notified me that I can file a claim at this point. I notified Cory that if he doesn't have it to Fox Lake by next week I'll file the claim and Progressive's lawyers will recover it from him.

Before anyone even tries to defend this guy because of his fiancee I am withholding DAMNING and DISGUSTING information regarding this because it serves no purpose but to demean him further. If he attempts to pull any shit whatsoever, I will post, with the support of two witnesses what happened when he was leaving, file this claim and be done with this guy forever.

I've heard every excuse
  • Busy
  • Back problems
  • Fiancee medical
  • This
  • That
  • Other things

I am too damn busy to be dealing with this guy for months when his job was to pull and motor and ship it. Even if he couldn't do it, for any of the billion reasons he's listed, you get a friend, family or pay someone to get it done and move on. This guy got in WAY over his head and is wasting everyone's time and money that deals with him. And I can assure you there is more to his side of the story he has presented, he's using it as an excuse mostly, but again, I'll only get into that if there is any shit being pulled by this guy.

I'm not going to go back and forth with this guy. I'm warning others and I assume he'll MAYBE get his ass in gear and get this shit shipped over. If not, Progressive will recover from him. All I know is I would not want to be dealing with Progressive's lawyers.

His website is down because he hasn't paid his hosting bill to GoDaddy. It's probably less than $10 a month. If you send your car, motor or money to this guy you're sending it to someone that probably doesn't even have $10 and will string you along until you sue him.

There's no way I would let anyone touch my car of I didn't trust them.obvoiusly you don't trust this man anymore. Get your car out of there.there's plenty of businesses that would be happy to take your money to remove and ship an engine.Find one ASAP.

Oh I got my car back, after calling the police and listening to a bunch of excuses to why it took months and months. His last job was to ship the motor to Fox Lake that was again many many months ago.

That was a very long time ago and I've called several times after paying the shipping fee and nothing has been done. I had one final conversation with him about a month ago and told him get it done and don't make any excuses. Called Fox Lake this morning and they still don't have it.

So whether its still sitting at his house\shop or it was lost in transit is irrelevant. When the police have to get involved to get your car back and your only remaining job is to ship the motor\clutch\header etc there's no excuse. You handle that and you clear that job out.

It is my assumption he has lost the motor at this point, left it out in inclement weather or sold it. He claims to have several person issues, sure, that's fine, but that doesn't mean your job as a business owner stops. I've shipped thousands of items from a hospital bed with my business. And once was from the ICU. Friends, family and contractors when needed. That's what you do when you own a business. It doesn't stop when your life stops, that's just how it is. If you can't handle that, get out of the game.

OP,

So you have your car back with no motor in it? Ironhand either has your motor (or lost it or sold it?) and the company who he was supposed to send it to never received it?

If I read correctly, holy shit, that's horrible. I feel sorry for you man. I know it sucks but everything happens for a reason and I'm sure it'll work out. Keep your head up.

Luckily its not a new built motor, just a motor in need of a rebuild. But there are still heads, salvageable internals, RXT clutch with about 10K on it that holds like a badmo, one of my headers etc etc etc. Lots of little shit that adds up to thousands of dollars. But if this was a new built motor I'd have had a melt down already.

But honestly, I still want it back if even to make it into a coffee table.

Another case of someone getting too busy too fast and not able to make the transition?

I've seen that particular scenario play out several times over the years. A guy starts a little side business to make a specialty part or make a little extra money. The side business grows very quickly because the guy is charging less than other businesses since it's only a side business and he doesn't have expenses like rent or employees. He decides to quit his full time job and go full time into the side business since he's so busy and sees the $$$. The problem happens when he makes the jump and tries to scale it up. Now there are additional expenses such as rent, employees, and equipment. Not too mention scheduling. The guy starts using job B's money to finish job A. This floats along for awhile until something happens. "Something always happens in business." Someone doesn't pay a bill.. someone gets sick and misses a few days, or maybe an employee quits. However it happens something goes wrong. Then the "barely making it" operation goes belly up leaving a handful of enthusiast holding the bag.

I'm hoping nobody gets screwed here, but it's seeming like the same old thing all over again.

I had an issue with another shop but it was more of a trust violation, they still delivered everything timely and at an appropriate rate.

I've learned that you can NOT cut corners. There is no possible way to use anyone but the Dean's Performances, the Kurgan Motorsports. Had great experiances with Dean's, even though I can never get a hold of the guy! He knows his shit and gets it done.

It's sometimes hard to swallow $75-$150\hr, but you end up paying it on the front or the back, take your pick really.

As you can see in my picture I take very good care of my vehicle. It was returned with bird shit dirty. I don't doubt it sat in the guys yard uncovered.

Going through all this I'm going to wash the vehicle up and look for any scratches or paint problems and roll that into my claim if there's anything. Reading the donation thread I doubt this will get resolved amicably.
