What is the reason for the $150.00 increase on these units.
If we ordered before the increase will our orders be affected.

Every year manufacturers raise MSRP's whether it's inflation or just to raise a profit. Atleast for 2014- they added some value and made heated seats standard- unless you ordered the recaros- in which case you just gotta eat it.

Why do they do it? Because they can. Not many people buying a $55-70k car are going to complain about it.

Look at the 09 GTR- in 2010 they raised the MSRP by $5k

price increase

So true.
$150.00 increase is not much on these units especially at 55K plus.
When you compare it too other units with this kind of power[652],we are still ahead.
My son just bought a Nissan GTR for 111K,MSRP
He claims that the Nissan GTR will go around in circles over the GT500,from 0-to60,& Quater mile .
Guess we will have too find out which is quicker.
Any one knows about that.
The Nissan GTR faster then the Shelby GT500.

To adjust for everything from component and assembly costs to an additional premium to reflect market demand. Rarely does a model year go by without some sort of interstitial price hike.

It affects vehicles invoiced (to the dealer) for build on or after a particular date which, in this case, seems to coincide on or about being scheduled after April.

Whether or not its a cost that will be passed-along to you is ENTIRELY based upon the terms you negotiated with your dealer - a fixed price, or dollars above/below invoice/SRP.

In this neck of the pricing woods, $150 is about as negligible as price increases get. And yes, it will surely happen that a given dealer will have two identically-appointed '14 GT500s in its showroom with a $150 price difference on the sticker. And since these increases are generally included in the base price of the vehicle (as this one is) whose gross margin is usually about 7%, more than 90% is passed along straight to the dealer rather than higher-margin options which tend to run in the 15-17% range.

How hard you press for $150 on a $60-$70K transaction is entirely up to you.

I've tracked against GT-Rs which are capable of phenomenal launches and cornering, but are quickly caught up to on the straights, even with a 11-12 GT500, especially if you overcome the gearing handicap Ford chose to avoid gas guzzler tax by going with either a 27" rear tire diameter and the SVTPPs 3.73 FDR or upping the baseline car's 3.55 gears to 3.73 (or even higher to 4.10s or 3.90 aftermarket sets from Motive or Strange.

For the 13-14 cars, a smaller rear tire diameter or kicking up the gearing to 3.55 would make a HUGE difference in keeping pace out of the corner, especially how well the new 6-piston brakes bite going into them, presuming you can get the car properly aligned to get on the power as soon as possible in between.

Every time I've driven a GT-R I've been hugely impressed. I've also been hugely eager to get back in the GT500 where it feels like I'm actually doing the driving, be it good bad or indifferent. No feeling like that whatsoever in the GT-R's entire drive-by-wire setup.

I see it akin to the live axle which I actually prefer to an IRS. To me, it's like the difference between listening to really well-recorded vinyl record and an everyday half-assed CD or mp3. Give me the richer, warmer vinyl record ANY day.

From what I've been observing, '14 units are getting pulled forward and scheduled MUCH more quickly than in years past. There's also a good number of '13s remaining in dealer stocks.

It's hard to know what to make of this, whether Ford is simply increasing its GT500 mix because it has the higher-margin capacity versus stocks of on-the-lot V6s and GTs, the number of remaining '13s has caused dealers to hold back on ordering cars they'd otherwise use for showroom stock or, with the additional tooling changeover required for the S550 next year, 2014 will end sooner in the calendar year like it began.

Almost changed my order to this, nice color combo =)

Thanks. Trying to decide between your combo vs mine made my head hurt. Honestly, if they would have allowed blue striped recaros with the DIB I prob would have ordered that. These cars look great in all colors

Any estimate on total 2014 production?
I had a 2004 Cobra and that was MUCH less than 2003 production.

Sorry for taking so long to respond to that great info Madlock! Lol eh! Just got the tires on my car yesterday went for a ride, at around 1200kms, (800 ish miles) the "oil change required" came up in the digital dash. 223$ Canadian for the first! Just for clarity is the every option but the glass roof with the car cover the most popular option in Canada? Is this the case as well in the USA? I sat down with my Pops and had ordered her with no nav either. By Monday morn I had changed the order to include the cover and the nav. I am guessing that dealer specific Shelby sales info isn't available? I am told that there are 4 other 13's here in Winnipeg. There are four bosses two 12-500s one stripe delete silver one that looks good! and a grey black stripe 13 vert on the lot. Again thanks for the great info and thread Mad!

Sure. 2,395 Coupes and 482 Convertibles have been scheduled through 6/29.

No significant changes in color or option mix, though a significant number of Convertibles were added pretty much all at once and a substantial number of export vehicles to markets beyond the U.S. and Canada have been built during the past 30 days.

Thanks for the update.
With your educated guess, how many do you think will be built this year?

My guess would be no more educated than anybody else's. But the reveal schedule for the S550 seems to be no difference than previous years' cadence, so I wouldn't expect 2014 to be any larger or smaller a run than previous years.

What WILL matter is how many remain in dealer stocks and for how long. The lack of a Hi-Po placeholder for 2015 gives GT500 a little more running room than other S197 flavors, but I wouldn't expect Ford to allow significant quantities to accumulate that would likely go unsold or require substantial future discounts.

With GT500 comprising only about 4-5% of the overall Mustang product mix, Ford's ability to substitute commodity versions for any number of previously-planned GT500s are limited only by the number of specialized components and systems to which Ford is already committed (i.e. how many Trinity motors it's already committed to building) or, in other words, not very much.

'14 began sooner, meaning the overall run could be up to 20% larger without affecting product cadence. But I wouldn't expect 20% more GT500 given the number of 2013 cars that still exist, which dealers are rightfully for all intents and purposes looking upon in combination with 2014 cars as a single entity. Dealers aren't blowing out their '13s, using the 20th SVT Anniversary, first 5.8 model year, $500 price increase for 2014 and simply being available as the only incentives needed.

Demand COULD rise as Ford goes on-record with S550 facts and what's known becomes more than supposedly "well-informed" speculation, but much of those cars could also head abroad depending upon where Ford foresees the greatest profit potential.

Based upon what's made so far, I'd be hugely surprised if Ford made fewer than 4,000. But I'd be even more surprised if build-out produced more than 5,000. That's the closest I'd make to anything I'd call a prediction.
