If you build a car with so much power, it can't lay it down effectively without VHT, who's fault is that?

C7 stock 1/4 times are already within ~.2 sec of the the GT500. Given the massive power advantage, that's pretty pathetic. I know this will piss everyone off, but it's true.

Who cares about 1/4 mile? Roll racing is the new thing man. And most Vettes do that rather than the track.

Just because a car has more power does not always mean it is quicker. There is this little thing called weight difference. I don't know the exact number but how much heavier is GT500 vs the C7? Not to mention I don't care what kind of car or how good the driver is. Eventually there will someone with a faster car or better driver. Either way both are bad ass cars.

DR will definitely help, but then you are no longer stock, and kill the other performance areas of the car in return.

As I stated, the best 1/4 time stock for both cars are within ~.2 seconds. Traps are obviously significantly different, but that means zip at the 1/4. That should tell you which one makes the most use of what it has.

Just tell me those 1/4 mile times please. Then we will go from there.

........and the base vette too.......the 'soon to come' more performance versions are going to be hurting some serious butt :)

Considering the Vette and the Mustang were never meant to compete with each other I'd say the Shelby is doing a pretty damn good job of pissing off the Chevy fanboys.

I sure as hell would hope the new Z07 would beat the Shelby so your argument is invalid. When the Camaro starts beating the mustang then you chevy boys can talk shit.

A base auto C7 would likely run the same ET as a $100k+ Viper all day long. Hell, it would probably run the same ET as a C6Z 99.999% of the time if they stopped in the middle of the street and raced from a dig.

This has been happening with automatic vs. manual high powered RWD cars on the street since the dawn of time. It happens within the same platform. An automatic GT500 would just flatout rape a 6spd GT500 in a race like this, it wouldn't even be a question. Within the same platform automatics hold all the records, and not by a tenth or two, but by a second or two, usually with less tire.

All that being said, it doesn't matter if it has 800hp more, the car was designed to hit a certain benchmark considering it's size, market, weight and layout. It's a ****ing 3900lb+ boulevard cruiser meant to appease pony car enthusiasts. Is it slower than a fiberglass purpose built sports car when you start doing hp ricer calculations? Yes.

This....which always seems to get lost in translation to the GM fans

I personally know the C7 owner and had it been a stick, he'd never been within 5 cars of the GT500 from a dig

What happens when the new Z28 with the 427 bust that ass? Excuses begin.

Being a 2013 427 Collectors Edition Corvette owner and a 2014 Shelby GT 500 owner I can tell you that the Shelby has far more power than the Corvette. I drive both cars and my Vette would smoke the new C7s. So even though I havent run a new C7 I know the Shelby driven right would smoke the tires off a new C7.

I am basing this off the fact I drive both models and my own personal driving experience. Any car can be beat depending on the driver and road conditions.

I've never seen a shelby put the power down on the street, thus giving this C7 a chance. It's not all about how much power is made.....

I thought I remembered reading GM lightened the Z28 to 3500 lbs. Maybe I'm wrong....

Even if, considering a C6 Z06 and '13-14 GT500 is a good run from a roll, I highly doubt a car that weighs 400# more than a Z06 is going to be any kind of match on the street, regardless of the magical Earth crust removing suspension GM throws on it

Your probably right, then again depending on traction which is always the Shelby's downfall because of the torque it makes. The Shelby's the best bang for the buck new for new for the power it makes. Just need to get the SRA out and come up with a badass IRS. That would transform the car IMO.

Lighter than the shelby, big NA power. Going to be very interesting. :)

From GM: "Reduced curb weight: The naturally aspirated Z/28 weighs 300 pounds less than the supercharged Camaro ZL1"

Sounds like the Z28 will be ~ 3,800 lbs. Better pull off the road for a Starbucks if you see the big snake.... :lol1:
