i dont own an SVT, let alone a ford, i wont own an SVT for quite a while, i dont pay for much of anything on the net, i probably wont be at any meets, i havnt saved any cash by coming on here, and i probably wont for a while.

put me down for a year! this is one of my daily websites because im obsessed with stangs, SVT, and any other ford performance vehicle, and this site gives me all the info i need. i dont even need to bring up the numerous laughs ive had since ive been a member.

but there needs to be a great lakes meet some time. norwalk maybe, an FFW/NMRA event? it would be worth the 2 1/2 hour drive!
Speaking of which,

If for my 45 dollars, I can have access to a premium only, password protected (to keep out the under 18ers) members forum where we can post naked pictures of our ex-girlfriends/ monthly conquests for other strangers on the internet to admire and critique I would be in! Guaranteed this would be a huge hit
MUST HAVE!!!
You want proof it's not free? Go to any of the hundreds of car sites that run not only the singular banner ad at the top, but the entire column of vendors on the side, the google ads in between posts, and have 4 out of the first 10 threads on every page being vendor pitches for various products.
oh, are you referring to nearly every major GM website? LOL

I'm happy with what the site gives for free. If I paid, it would have to be a lot more stable without so many outages.

I voted no on paying for a membership. I know the site doesn't want to be overrun with vendor ads, but it the revenue would allow the site to be more stable and quicker, I wouldn't care. LS2.com has vendor ads, and I don't even notice them. And their arcade is free. But this site would have to become a lot more stable and faster before I would consider paying for a membership. Plus, being in the midwest, I'm not going to be going to east coast or west coast events, so that part of the membership does me no good.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about when speaking of speed and stability. The site is very fast and the only times it is down is when we're adding features or tweaking the database.

yeah, the site runs fine for me 99% of the time. not sure if i would be interested, i mean i enjoy the site and all, but i dont own an SVT at this time and not really sure i would really use the added benefits. but i think its a better idea than posting ads everywhere! but i will keep my mind open to it.

Again, not bitching about the FREE SITE!! Just saying when you pay, things like that become aggravating. =D

The way you explain it sounds good, but I probably wouldnt pay if I could maintain everything I get now for free. The benefits sound cool, but realistically I dont see myself being able to take advantage of all of them (tent at events).

I like it the way it is, but I dont completely understand the circumstances involved so this may not be a possibility. I would hate to see the site turn into a members only type thing, and to crush the "diversity" (Why would a C6/ Evo/ STi driver, etc pay?).

I haven't read through everything here, but I don't think non-paying members should lose their pm's. 100 goes quick, especially when you want to save some for future reference when you've had questions etc. Plus, there should be some sort of midwest event, if anything, seeing as the number of SVT's there are throughout TX and the other states in the middle (isn't the MIDDLE usually the meeting grounds anyway??)

same problem I have. There are about a dozen various sites I visit every day, and this is by far the slowest and most unstable (relatively speaking). But it is still my favorite.

I wouldnt pay for something I dont use that much, I mean for some of the other members that use the site on a regular basis or that are very modded im sure it would be well worth it to pay.

Most sites I've seen only give non-premium members 25-50 private messages, SVTP would still be in the highest bracket of the industry standard. If you feel the need to have more then consider that a good reason to upgrade. I'll be lowering the pm limits in the next few weeks in a graduated fashion till we get to the final limit right before the premium memberships become available.

To support the site and be part of the SVTP community. I had a Ford Ranger when I joined this site, and something like this would have been right up my ally.

Sid, please take notice that most of the people saying no are the ones who don't own an SVT vehicle, and are even stating that in their posts. You had a ford Ranger and probably planned on getting a Lightning. The other people who you related to yourself already have performance cars and some would even consider going to any SVT product as step down for them. You have made it very clear in the past that this site supports itself and is worth well into the six figure range, those facts aren't compelling reasons for members to feel they need to support this site. Infact I'm suprised you used the word support. The membership fee seems to be mainly to cover the extra effort and expenses that would go into outside events.

Also, I was wondering if you would consider doing a light membership, I would probably buy that. One that only gives the extra benefits on the site only. Many of us won't want to go to a meet or will be to far away to want to go (overseas).

I'm not interested doing different levels of premium membership, it can lead to more trouble than it's worth.

I had no plans of buying an L when I started reading SVTP. In fact I had just gotten my new Ranger at that point in early 2002. I lurked a long time before joining.

I use the word support because that's exactly what they would be doing. The site does support itself in current form. However, the future expansions can not be covered by the type of vendor fees we currently have. Therefore, to prevent having to fundamentally change the atmosphere of the and allow outside corporate control to become involved I am offering a completely optional premium membership upgrade. It will allow us to accomplish our goals as well as stick to the principle upon which SVTP was founded. To me, if you feel you're part of the SVTP community that's something worth supporting no matter what you drive.
