My friend who just come home from college has a 2004 SRT-4 stock and wants to race my daily driver a 1996 Camro SS A4. My car is completly stock, he wants to race from a roll and a dig. Does anyone think I can take him?

Should be a close race if he is stock. If you had a M6 then I would say you would win but I know GM's with automatics aren't much stock.

Why not change out the gears in your car to a 4.11 and walk away from him?

NO, 410s are too short, go with 3.73 gears if u do gearing. It will be a close race. Good luck and Get that LT1 moded

Thanks for the responses, I really cant go too nuts with my daily driver but I am gonna modify my 2002 Camaro SS A4. I think 4.10's would be too much on a 4 speed, but would probably give great torque. I wish gm would make a good 5 speed or 6 speed automatic.

3.73's are as high as you want to go in a auto. GM's Auto's are VERY good performers i was never beatin by a 6 speed LT1 when i had my auto LT1. You should beat the neon from a stop, but from a roll he might edge you out

I raced a few srt-4's and lt1's, imho from a stop very close, from a roll could be a beating. Get back on the outcome.

i would beat stock srt-4's from 45 punches in my LT1, just depends on how well this guy's LT1 runs

From the magazines:

1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 LS1 350 V8 305 13.9 102.5
2004 Dodge SRT-4 2.4L I4, T/C 230 13.89 101.88

Form a roll the SRT4 is dangerous, it would be a much better 1/4 mile car if it could launch better.

Ithink you might get him either way.I waxed the same guy 3 times, twice from a dig and once rolling at 20mph.They run well for a 4 banger.
