My neighbor ran over some ground wasps on his tractor while bush hogging and tried to jump off. He got ran over by the bush hog.
That sucks and I can 100% see how it happens. I was cutting a tree down last year and got into a nest of yellow jackets. It was horrible.
There wasn't like... 1 bite to let me know they were there. It was probably 8 bites all at once all over my neck and face. They were down my shirt still biting be by the time I ran inside the house!
Ended up with 17 bites from my waste up.
I'd have probably jumped off the damn tractor too.

Side note: The best way to kill the nest is fill a 20oz bottle with gas, wait till night when they are inactive then jamb the bottle open end down into the hole so the gas kills most and the bottle keeps the fumes in to kill the rest.
Its worked without issue 3 times since.

When my son was 3 he stepped on a nest in my parents back yard while I was grabbing something out of the garage. I was 10 feet away and when he started screaming he was covered in them by the time I could grab him. I grabbed him and started running from the nest while I was pulling them off. I think he was stung about 12 or 13 times.

Poor kid is still terrified of anything that flies.
