Hi all, I am currently a student majoring in criminal justice and political science and I want to become a LEO (hopefully state) when i graduate. I'm currently a senior but I will require 1 additional semester to graduate. So I'll graduate this coming winter. So my question is, what is the timeline i should be following. Is there stuff I should be doing now in order to make the my hiring process quicker and more successful? Basically I just want to know what things i should be getting ready for/doing so i can be as ready as possible come graduation time.

Thanks in advance for your help and advise

See if NJSP are hiring. Usually there is a previous list they are working off of. L.E.O.s in the NY/ NJ tri-state area are hard to come by. They are looking for the best candidate for their money. So, make yourself stand out. Get some training in critical skill areas. A CJ degree is actually not highly recommended, as agencies prefer to train you their way.

Good Luck.
