It sounds to me like it's something they aren't excited to get into. That kind of work doesn't pay near as well as brake jobs, tune ups, etc. Those are called "gravy" and make the techs and shop a lot of money. Engine rebuilds aren't near as profitable. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try and locate a shop that is excited about working on your car...and has the experience with these motors. They definitely ain't no small block Chebbie!!!
