*Video from the show added*

So I went to my first dubstep show this weekend in Philly and saw Excision. COMPLETELY melted my face off. I had a blast and the sound system was intense. Here are a few songs I got to here live. Absolutely amazing!

La Roux - In for the kill (Skrillex Remix)

Excision & Downlink - Existence

Downlink - Emergency

Excision & Downlink - Reploid

Flux Pavilion - Lines in Wax (feat. Foreign Beggars)

This is just some of the crazy stuff I got to hear. So much bass! The promoters of the club said for Excision to go ahead and blow the subs because they had back ups. He did blow one. Probably the best show I ever saw.

I'm totally on the fence about dubstep. There are some songs that I ****ing love, but on the other hand the majority of what I find is trash. Here are some that I enjoy

Easy answer.

Dubstep is relatively new (been around for awhile, but it started getting big within the last year/2years or so) so you have artists popping up all over trying out the "new thing" and trying to climb to the top as fast as they can in the new market, i.e. there's a lot of music that's rushed or not well-thought-out (or both),etc. Also, some people are making tracks with some distortion, added bass, and big drops, but nothing else and without synergy and they label it "dubstep."

There's quite a bit of good stuff out there though, that said; just like with any genre though there's a lot of trash too.

Oh yeah thats no doubt the case. All it requires is just a basic mixing board and thats essentially it.

I went to a bunch of shows last year, I haven't had the time to go to any this year but dubstep is definitely awesome. Nothing compares to going to a show either.

This is what my roommate does for a living. Believe me when I tell you that there's much more that goes into it than just a "basic mixing board." That's like saying, "in order to run a 10 second pass all you need is a basic mustang."

If you like "when I look at you" then I think you'll like this even more.

these are a little old but I still love them. Rusko is a genius.

The mixing in this one is awesome and he throws a bunch of crazy samples in there.

This one is just raw as hell can't help but move to it.

There's a million different versions to this one but I love the bass in this one, it's just nasty.

Rusko is awesome. He played Philly the night before. Unfortunately I missed the cheaper tickets for the electric factory, it think it was. After the cheap tickets were gone they went up to like $60-$70. I was like forget that. After the holidays I plan on going to more I had soooo much fun!

I'm glad there are others that are into this type of music.

Caspa (The Emalkay mix above is on an Essential Mix I have of him)
Subfocus is badass. I have one of their Essential Mixes on my MP3 player.
Nero

I like subfocus' remix of Rusko's Hold On ft. Amber Coffman.
