He wanted to disguise the fact that the '95 Cobra R won more IMSA race events than other production-based cars then and today.

It was the best of the best. I owned and raced two of them:

The #21 Steeda Snipes car was so fast that the vintage racing organizations moved it into the Porsche 911 930 (the Widow Maker car) classification.
