If the skip re-appears you may have burned a hole or two in your coil boots, from the arcing to ground while wet.
These can be purchased separately from the coils for WAY less money than new coils.
All Ford , Lincoln and Mercury modular 32V DOHC COPs take boot part # F7LY 12A406 A.
My guess is, you used a pressure washer instead of just a gentle hose rinse.
The coil covers have a vent at one end( a gap in the gasket) and massive amounts of water can get in if you are not extremely careful.

As do I, but the longevity of the plug is just not in my favor. I replace mine everytime I change the oil. Good things it doesn't take too long to do or i'd probably just go with the TR7's
