Hotels In Vegas

So, my buddy is getting married in April in Vegas. They are staying at Caesars Palace, but the price of the hotel per night is $200 or so, and right now I can't really afford to do that, and do everything else with them.

So I'm looking at other hotels, I've looked at Imperial Palace, Bally's, Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's, and The Rio.

Any recommendations?

Usually good deals at Imperial Palace. Look for online deals.

If your really, really, really broke stay at the Golden Spike. Cheap as dirt. My wife and I stayed there about 8 years ago. We were down for a wedding and $$ was really tight at the time. Think we payed $19 a night which included breakfast or lunch. Its really old and not much but the rooms are clean. The plus side was a buddy that was staying at Treasure Island was amazed that our room was a Hell of lot bigger than his. Considering all we did was sleep there and swam and partied elsewhere it didn't really matter.

Depends if you want to stay on the strip, great deals can be found at the hotels off the strip. Like Aliante Station, 30 min from the strip but rooms are AMAZING for the price. Plus it's like 2 yrs old so everything still smells new!

Otherwise, try Hooters Hotel?

Lol. Yea well the wedding is at Caesars Palace, we'd like to stay relatively close..

I'd like to have a nice basic room thats walking distance, I really don't plan on being in there a whole lot, but something that isn't a scummy place or anything would be awesome.

the problem with staying off strip is for the costs of the cab rides, you might as well get a nicer room at a better/closer hotel.

Any of the ones you mentioned here are across the street from Caesars. Hooters is a dump. I would also go right to some of the hotel web sites, or hotels.com, and try to find some deals, maybe at the Monte Carlo or Mandalay Bay.

The Las Vegas Hilton is usually cheaper than the closer right-on-the-strip hotels. It's located right behind the Riviera, but has the advantage of having a LV Monorail station. You can buy a pass for that and have easy transport (a few minutes) to the main part of the strip. There's a stop at the Imperial Palace which is right across from Caesars.

I just got back from Vegas last week...stayed at Caesars its a very nice place but like you said its a little expensive. Paris is nice and its right across the street and a block down from Caesars so its still on the strip and nearby to the wedding.

Ditto.

Planet Hollywoods close as well. The Wynns also in that area as well as the bellagio but all of those are somewhat pricey.

Try Circus Circus.

Excalibur is usually very cheap in comparison also. If you have not booked your airfare yet, you can usually get better pricing if you book the hotel through the airline.

Check prices at Bally's.
The rooms are usually cheaper and it's kitty corner to Caesars Palace.
I've stayed there a couple of times and the rooms are actually really nice.

We'll be driving, Vegas is only a few hours away from where I live.

You can always check out travel webites for deals on hotel rooms in Vegas.
Just enter seach terms like 'las vegas hotel deals' or something like that.
We got married in June 2008 in Vegas and while we were planning the weeding we searched on the internet for room deals.

Yea. Deals are one thing I'm looking for, but I also want it to be somewhat nice. Any hotel room looks great on the internet. The hotels I listed in the OP are all about the same price, but other ideas or just a "yea those rooms are nice" are basically what I'm looking for.

Always stay at The Palazzo with comped rooms but I think the rooms go for $159 during the week. Also right across the street from The Palazzo is TI which usually has reasonable pricing($79-99 per night). Both easily within walking distance of Caesars.

I've stayed at TI the past few times I was out there. The rooms are definitely nice for the price. Last time we went out there my parents stayed at South Point. Really cheap all around and definitely a decent hotel. It's a couple miles south of the strip but, you have a car so it won't be a problem.

I'll be out there May 29-June 1 for a friend's bachelor party. We're paying $430 for roundtrip airfare w/ direct flights and 3 nights at Imperial Palace.

Imperial has the location, good prices and basic amenities.

I hadn't been to Vegas for at least 20 years before planning our wedding.
I knew Vegas had changed since my last visit, so I started checking hotel websites, then used travel sites to find a nice room we could afford, then when I narrowed down our choices we went directly to the hotel sites to check the rates and look at the rooms online before booking our room.
What was important for us was to get a nice room, good location and a good price.

We ended up staying at the Stratosphere.

I prefer Laughlin over Vegas, and when we go there we like Colorado Belle, but even when planning a Laughlin trip we use travel sites to check room rates.
