How to restore sunbeaten paint?

My girlfriends black car has some sunbeaten paint on the hood and deck lid.. Anyone know the best way to make it look better besides a wax job? Re-painting is really out of the question for her.

Is it clear coat fade?

If the clear coat is gone, theirs not much you can do besides a respray...

I'm not really sure, I do believe so though. When wet it completely beads different from the rest of the car. However I can see a shine under all the fade, just don't know how to get that out.
