I love my late 2015 custom stage 3 grinds. They rock.
I guesstimate that at just 10psi of boost, of the 120whp I gained on my new combo, vs my last at 10psi, at least 60+whp of it is due to these grinds.
I changed many parts, but to give an idea, I lost no mid range, and now on 10psi, I make the power I made before on 15psi.
To be honest, I'm on 9.6psi, and a soft break in tune, limited to 6700. My entire combo is specced to be happiest from 4000-8000, particularly 6-8k.
With safe and soft perimeters, we're easily making 720whp at 6700rpm right now on pump gas and 9.6psi. Before we made 600whp on 9psi with the 5.4 and 57's on a solid/optimized tune.
I'm pretty sure a solid/optimum tune and 7500-8000rpm would yield 775-800whp on our current combo.
The crazy part is...
-these turbos want 18-27psi, .70 ar, t4 etc
-these heads want volume... 370cfm caverns
-these cams like "20-30psi".
I can't wait to turn up the wick and see what happens...
Review/satisfaction wise:
-all info was correct and easy to degree!
-the lope is bad the f*ck ass for a 4v idle. It has great chop and burble, but still is smooth to drive.
-low end torque is still great. 250wtq at 1800rpm, 300wtq at 2500rpm. That's about stock 03 cobra territory, not quite. It's well above stock 05-09 gt territory though. I have 3.73's, which complement my redline. It's honestly a joy. Rips and grips too.
-Tuning for the cams wast bad at all.
-customer service was exceptional.
Thank you guys, I can't say enough of how pleased I am.
Here's a recent 11.7psi graph I have with late 2015 stage 3 turbo grinds, stage 3 pnp fgt heads, and only 9.3/1 compression on a 5.3 bbs feeding huge t4 62/65 turbos, with a very large intercooler. T56 with 3.73's, IRS, McLeod street twin, full 3" exhaust through tail pipes. Does have resonators as well.
I plan to turn it up for 25-30psi and want lots of top end when I go stand alone and pull it to 8000rpm.
Anyways, the cams are doing an excellent job. Thanks guys. This is a very soft street tune with 91 octane. It has 50whp in it but we have bad gas, and e85 is 30+ miles away.
