I'm getting a little bored with my Terminator. Not sure why. Must be because I've had it for almost 4 years.

Anyways, I'm trying to think of "what's next". What is the next step in the "GT" type of car? I like to drive the damn things. I'll most of the time drive rather than fly even if it is cheaper to fly. I like seeing parts of the USA I haven't been to in a while (I'm fortune to have had parents that traveled a ton when I was younger).

I'm not a 'vette guy, not a GT500 (love my IRS too much), not a Evo/STi (step in the wrong direction IMO)....

Lotus? Doesn't seem like a comfortable long distance car.

What vehicle is the next step up if you're into a car for its "Grand Touring" capabilities?

Price Range?
Here are some options but they are pretty expensive:

M6 - http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Vehicles/2008/M/M6Coupe/default.aspx
M5 - http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/Vehicles/2008/M/M5Sedan/default.aspx

CL63 - http://www.mbusa.com/models/main.do?modelCode=CL63
CL65 - http://www.mbusa.com/models/main.do?modelCode=CL65

E63 - http://www.mbusa.com/models/main.do?modelCode=E63

Audi R8 - http://www.audiusa.com/audi/us/en2/new_cars/Audi_R8.html
Audi S5 - http://www.audiusa.com/audi/us/en2/new_cars/Audi_A5.html

The A5/S5 is basically a coupe version of the A6.

Porsche - The Cayman is fairly affordable, but will be slow compared to the cobra, the 911's are quick, but expensive and probably not as comfortable as you are looking for.

I know you said you aren't into vettes, but they are probably your best bang for the buck. Many of the cars listed above are over $100k

I'll be honest, if you wanna see the US and have fun... I wouldn't do it any other way other than a motorcycle.

Already have a bike and I'm working on my cafe'ed norton featherbed.

As for the suggestions. Not really into the german cars. They just don't seem to have any "soul".

I don't want to spend more than 50.

A lotus seems "exotic" enough, but I'd have to try one out for the day to see if I really like how they feel. I love the styling though.

I vote M5 even though you dont like them. Good power, great luxury and comfort. Sounds like it fits your bill to a t.
