I say keep the SD and get a AEM, i just installed one in my fox. WOW what a difference. I've been in chipped cars and mass air cars "mine" there is nothing like it.
I got rid of all my mass air crap and went back SD with the AEM then added a real GM map sensor. Car is a dream. PM me if you need help. I can show you some videos if you would like.
I figured I would do a random update. This past fall I was contacted by the Saratoga Auto Museum about using my car as the centerpiece of their 50th anniversary mustang exhibit. I have to say it was quite an honor, having your car featured in one of the top 10 automotive museums (as rated by the NY times) in the US. It stinks having to give up your pride and joy for the entire driving season (june-nov), However It's nice to be able to let people see it as well.
They used my car on the museum banner/handouts as well
Unfortunately the new flywheel I put in the car on memorial day to replace the one in the car with the stripped ring gear was mis-balanced and caused a bad vibration, so the car had to be trailered for the second time since it was done :/
after pulling it in the museum.
Opening night of the exhibit was really neat, I got to meet a few famous people all fo which said they really loved the car.
Myself with Edsel Ford II
Dennis Gage
Myself, Mary Steelhorse ( editor from Car and Driver - who may be doing a feature on the car shortly), and Jerry Melanowski ( one of the original designers of the mustang and the designer of the running horse emblem)
Some of the Documentation I loaned the museum to exhibit with the car.
Plaque I got from Cinema Vehicle Services
and the certificate of authenticity also from CVS
Original film crew jackets
and some misc magazines and stuff like that. The car is on exhibit until November 1st if anyone wants to see the car in person. http://saratogaautomuseum.org/
So like some of the others, I've spent the past two days reading this article and i must say, "I am amazed". I am also 20 years old a beginning my own Eleanor build. I am just like you when it comes to how picky i am over everything and was amazed that there was someone else out there that noticed that 95% of the "replicas" are not close to being thought of called An Eleanor. She has been my dream car ever since i watched the movie for the first time when i was 7 years old, and like many, have studied pictures and the movie frame by frame, extensively. I know this thread has been quiet for a while, but i just had to create an account and bring it back up. The work you have done is mind-blowing and has done nothing short of inspiring me that much more to follow through and push my dream build. Not to mention, after all of my research over the years, I think I've learned more from this thread, down to the details. You've got real talent, my friend. I live in Western Kentucky, but hope that one day I meet you at a show or event. Hope you continue posting small updates youve done to the car. I'm a car guy so i know builds are never completed haha. Keep it up bud.
Slightly OT: Where did you find those finned valve covers for a 302? (Minus all the milling and fabrication you did to them) I love those style covers but cant find them anywhere for a small block windsor. Thanks in advance.
