Question for anyone who has done a 9" swap.

I'm in the process of swapping out my 8.8" rear end for a 9"
I have already received the Currie housing, the 35 spline axles and brake brackets will be here on Wednesday.
The 3rd member is being built and should be shipping mid week.

So far I have also purchased a BMR panhard bar relocation bracket.
I already have a set of BMR LCA relocation brackets and swaybar relocation brackets.

I have a Powerhouse 1 piece aluminum driveshaft with 1330 u-joints.
I have also ordered a Spicer 5-648x conversion u-joint to bolt up to my 3rd member.

Does the driveshaft need to lengthened or shortened?
Any other suggestions?

Some have had clearance issues and ended up using this UCA...

Thanks, I have the Steeda adjustable UCA with the pinion snubber in the car right now.
I'll throw the housing in the car this morning and confirm the complete range of travel.

I'm waiting on a weld in steel bung and magnetic 1/2"npt plug to arrive on Monday before putting the housing in the car for good.
I want to install a drain on the bottom of the housing.

Did you have Currie supply you with brackets that allow the stock brakes to bolt back up?

Yes I did.
On the Modded Mustangs site they did an install and it shows that there were spacer washers supplied so that the bolts wouldn't contact the rotors.
The guy at currie says that he never heard of such a thing.
Worst case scenario I will get a local guy to machine me a set.

Now I need to order a new set of Hawk HPS pads.
The worst part is that I'm going from Wilwood 4 piston back to stock.
This winter I'll see if there is a way to put the Wilwood brakes back on.

Old thread...

I'm having email exchange with Moser on a 9" axle swap, questions:
I see some reference in this post to needing a new upper control arm. Moser is telling me the stock type upper arm will work (I have a BMR adjustable on my 8.8):
- Will the stock type upper arm work?
- Is Moser doing something different that allows the stock type to work?
- What are the potential issues? Geometry, contact, ...?

One option is to use an aluminum Case and Pinion Support
- any reason I would not use these? Strong enough?
- is the 18 pound weight reduction, per Moser, for $160 cost worth it?

Differential option:
- $790 for a wavetrac is more then I can swallow
- Trac-Loc and True Trac are only available in 31 spline? I thought there was a 33 spline option??

Your thoughts are appreciated,

The stock upper control arm will work if you do not lower the car and launch hard, I would just go ahead and buy the BMR upper but ask for spherical ends not poly.

The driveshaft needs to be shortened.

The wavetrack or S track from Strange are good to 700 hp or so depending how well you hook. Mine siezed, just get a spool if you race.

I got the Strange aluminum Pro center and its a nice piece, Moser let me down on a couple of warranty issues so I dont use them anymore.
