How does one go about shipping a cat back??

When I sold my Stingers, I first disassembled the tailpipes from the mufflers. I then found a box that resembled the size of a desktop and was about 12" thick. I placed bubble wrap around all the pipe and mufflers then away it went via UPS...

OKAY
let me tell you guys something.
my exhaust setup with off road mid pipe. loud.
my exhaust setup with catted midpipe. exact same thing.
Mayyyybe 0.5 to 1% quieter.
Have you ever cut a cat in half? look how many honeycomb things inside.
Now cut a so called high flow cat in half. Look inside, almost none.
that thing will NOT restrict exhaust flow WHAT SO EVER. just physics.
Just do your research. All of you are dishing out stereotype info.

Yes I have actually cut a hi-flow cat in half (not on purpose).. I had to get a new mid pipe and went O/R just to try in out. I can tell you from experience that the hi-flow cats quiet it down a lot more than 1%.

my personal experience says no.
go find out how much a factory cat cost.
i think you will freak out.
I can tell you how much a high flow cat that
maganflow uses costs... 10$ big max.
cause they are pretty much hollow.
Bassani uses better quality cats in their midpipes.
Buy bassani if you want an aftermarket mid pipe WITH CATS (actual cat)

Dude, you went to an "alternative" school didn't you?

First of all, there are quite a few different cat manufacturers. Your "personal experience" is relative to what you have experience with and from the way you portray yourself, I'd be willing to bet that it's VERY LIMITED.
You may have purchased a cheap ass set of cats, but that doesn't mean they are all bogus. Cats are expensive because those "honey comb thingies" contain platinum. The current economy is causing precious metal values to sky rocket, hence the elevated prices of anything that contains platinum. Factory cats and GOOD high flow cats are made by the same suppliers. The price has nothing to do with the quality if you do your homework and get a good set.
If you buy a good set of cats, or even a descent set, they will ABSOLUTELY quite your exhaust. No one in their right mind is LOOKING for "restricted exhaust flow." Restriction is not exactly what causes quieter exhaust tone. The only person here that needs to do research is you my friend.

:lol::lol::lol: what else can I say??? Your experience is very fluent in the English language. It can actually say NO.

I'm confused? What the hell dose that mean?? 10$ big max. Is that slang for a really good hamburger?

I'm just trying to help out people that think an aftermarket
catted mid pipe will quiet down their exhaust sound.
Not everybody wants their exhaust as loud as possible
all i'm tryin to say is that an aftermarket catted mid pipe
is almost the same an offroad midpipe.
With the bassani midpipe you have the
option of putting on the cats or taking them off ,
I have to say that the difference in sound was noticeable
when the cats are used. Bassani is the least obnoxious.

thats BS. aftermarket cats do no quiet down your car. those are not real cats.
they are cheap pieces of shit. Factory cats on the other side will
quiet down your car but are restrictive. If you want aftermarket cats or high flow
cats you are better off with no cats.IT'S THE SAME SHIT.

Retard....

I'm not sure what shitty ass aftermarket cat you've had, but cats aftermarket or factory will quiet down the exhaust note significantly. I've had several different exhuast combos both catted and off road, and everytime the catted was quieter. To the OP your off road prochamber is actually a relatively quiet off road mid-pipe, the box in the middle baffles the sound quite a bit. If you want to go quieter look at swapping somebody for their magnaflow or regular borla catback. It will still sound great but not be near as loud.

OK so I just cut my magnaflow Xpipe.
took off the hi-flow cats. there was no honeycomb material inside.
just a series of what looked like window screens.
I could see right trough it. If anyone is intrested i can post pics.
BTW 2 brand new magnaflow high flow cats for sale.
You know what, I'll give them out for free to anyone who is willing to
weld then in their midpipe and tell us if it made their car quieter.
(shipping no included)

In their place I welded in 2 cats out of a 2003 GT mid pipe.
the sound was cut in half i would say, ay least. idle was a hair
louder than stock. When i stepped on it still loud but it seems the
sound was all cat back. I have a borla catback (regular).
