Any recommendations on where to pick up a good but decent priced alternator....also is this something a shade-tree mechanic can replace themselves or do you guys recommend taking it to a mechanic....

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I got mine from Autozone think it was around 200 or so dollars. Not to difficult, take belt off and then there is a couple bolts (tricky one I believe).

Only problem you may run into is if you have underdrive pullies. You'll need an impact to get the pully off the old alt and onto the new one. I paid a shop 30 bucks to do the R&R . It would have taken more time for me to do the work, then go get the pulley swapped and then back to button up that it would to let the shop do it in 30 minutes.
