Where to put MAF on CXRacing 2V Kit.

I'm putting a Vortech V1 SC on my 03 Mustang GT, and I'm going to use this CXRacing kit to help cool it off. I was curious, where am I supposed to put the MAF, what MAF, and how should I create the mount for it? I've heard blow-through is the best style of MAF for Centri applications. What else will I have to drill into it for? I assume I'm going to have to remount all vacuum lines to before the s/c, but what lines in particular?

I recommend a blow through set up (MAF is installed after the blower). I personally went with a SCT BA5000 slot style. It was overkill for my D1SC setup on my 2V but left me room to grow. I installed the slot style MAF mount pre welded into a section of intake piping of your desired diameter, which will probably be 3inch…or buy one separately and have it welded into the CX racing piping.

I put mine in a straight piece of piping with no bends on either side of the MAF. I can dig up pictures if you need me to.

You will need the harness plug for the slot style MAF too. It’s pretty easy to splice in.

One thing I'd like to add is it would be smart to upgrade the intercooler when you can.

Those CX racing cores are notorious for significant boost drops. You'll definitely need a smaller pulley to keep your boost level the same.
Yeah, sadly that's what I've heard. Sucks when I just dropped almost 700 dollars on it, but there aren't really any options left anymore for my car. I found this website, frozenboost.com, but I'm not 100% sure of their intercooler quality, and I don't really trust my ability to piece together the pipes, so it was either go risky for cheaper, or do a full a/w which is 2k easily. I'll wait until I can find a quality A/A on the cheap.

Alright. Sounds pretty easy, I can cut the pipe with my Dremel. Do I need to weld the pipes together? I can, but I don't really want to. What else did you have to connect to the intake pipes, like what vacuum lines, etc?

Maybe they've made improvements over the years? I just remember guys complaining of 3-4 psi drops when those kits first hit the market.

I'd keep the same pulley to see what the drop actually is though.

Frozenboost, CX Racing, Siliconeintakes all source their parts from the same manufacturer from what I can tell. That's why so much of their stuff looks the same and is priced so similar.

Treadstone on the other hand sources cores and end tanks but assembles in house. Because of this their quality is far better from what I've seen and read.

That's the direction I would go down the road.

I don’t have the blower on the car at all, so we won’t know what the boost drop is. I’ll have to wire in some boost sensors I guess. I heard the same thing, and I’ll definitely go with a treadstone later especially if I get a deal. If I can free up more boost then that means I can make more power before hitting the limit of the block. We’ll see how CXRacing is.

I was going to go with a treadstone on my 2v d1sc setup but I couldn't get one in a good timeframe. I would up going with a mishimoto r-line intercooler which is 4 inch thick and had great iat's and almost no boost drop. fantastic intercooler for a great price

What did you do for your MAF setup? I'm thinking about getting a SCT BA3000 but I don't know how I'll hook it in.
SCT slot in a straight piece of pipe, after the BOV
Is this a slot style or the stock style?

I got this tube to put the maf in: VMP 3" / 75 mm ID Blow-Through Slot-Style MAF Housing
and put it on the straight portion of pipe before the throttle body.
I recommend the pmas hpx maf, they provide data that your tuner will have no problem tuning with.
Use this harness to adapt your stock maf wiring to the new slot style maf: VMP PnP Adapter Harness '05+ Slot-Style MAF sensor on '96-04

Why does everyone like the slot styles so much? They just seem more expensive, harder to wire.

Because its very hard to tune a stock style maf with a blow through setup (if you dont know what that is then google it) but slot style it is the proper way to go. Take my word for it when I say with modding cars "buy once, cry once"

Okay, good to know. I was tempted to buy a stock style, because of the wiring, price, and what not, but I suppose I can find a slot style for a good price. I just didn't know why they were better, I knew they pegged at higher airflows. Especially when I'm going for a blowthru app.

A stock 05-10 MAF will probably be fine too for your power goals. Most go bigger because, again, buy once cry once. BA5000 is what I did on my D1SC setup.

Didn't consider that, maybe. Hopefully, I'll be able to snag a deal with a dude for some injectors and a PMAS maf on Facebook though. I would like to build the block of the engine eventually, so if I can get the big MAF, that would be good with me.

How hard was it to weld in the flange for the slot style? My buddy doesn't have much experience welding aluminum, would it be that hard to do it?

The pipe in the used kit I bought had the flame welded also. You can find pipes with the flange already welded on. Or have someone who knows how to do it. Got to pay to play. Just do it

You can buy a tube with the slot already there. Quite a few different companies/sizes out there.

It's all about the tuning. I switched from a BA2400 to a BA5000 in a 3.5" pipe and the 5000 was a lot easier to tune. Part throttle was no problem to dial in as the signal was a lot cleaner. And it wasn't even close to pegging on my set up.
