I'm going to try to get an Eleanor clone build going and everyone is running the coyote 5.0. Why not get a totaled 2013 Shelby and swap the 5.8 into the classics? Is it just too big even with modification? Has anyone done one or em I just dreaming big?

I would so do it! I'd probably build the 5.4 from the ground up. Would be cheaper to build (if you know how to build a engine) lol but I'd try to put a IRS in the rear. I'd love to tackle this later on in life! Would make the ultimate street car cruiser!

Any of yall heard of or put a 5.4 in a 66? I am about to have a mechanic that and would appreciate some pointers.

I' am currently doing a Coyote with a Whipple swap into my 67 Fastback. I am also a fan of stuffing a GT500 into a 65/66 or 67/68! I had to install an IFS suspension so that I could eliminate the shock towers because the engine was just too wide like the GT500. I used the Rod Custom set up for the Coyote. If the GT500 use 4.6 motor mounts like the Coyote, then the IFS is what you may want to invest in.

What IRS set up is that? I was thinking Heidts but they are a little pricey (coming from the guy who just bought a salvaged 2014 gt500 shelby for engine swap)

Yup, Rod and Custom fully adjustable front IFS with coil overs. The upper shock mounting point is 3 way adjustable for ride height.

Did you ever get you 5.8 to fit into the 67 clone? I am trying to do the same thing and I have the Rod and Custom set up but I feel like its going to be to tall. How did you get it to fit?

I am looking to buy a 13-14 5.8 GT500 engine w/ harness and pcm and if you have this I'm curious as to where you bought it? I been looking and have 2 shops looking and can't find totaled 13-14 GT500 or someone upgrading

If you're going to put a 5.4 in one of these old cars do your self a favor and eliminate the shock towers : )
